3 Ways Inclusive Culture Benefits Everybody

Diversity, equity and inclusion have become major buzzwords in any given industry. But fostering an inclusive culture isn’t just trendy, and it’s more than “the right thing to do.” It’s good for business: for employees and candidates, and for your bottom line. Here are three ways that inclusive culture benefits everybody.

1. It increases job satisfaction amongst current employees.

According to Daniel H. Pink, the top three motivators for modern-day employees are autonomy, mastery and purpose. He linked these motivators to company inclusion initiatives that truly engage employees by encouraging them to contribute in a way that’s both enjoyable and developmental. Initiatives like these lead to increased employee involvement, individual growth, greater opportunities for recognition and more. All of these, in turn, lead to increased job satisfaction, which has been linked to higher performance and profitability.

2. It attracts more competitive candidates.

In this day and age, the most competitive candidates are drawn to companies and organizations with inclusive cultures. 67% of job-seekers actively look for diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces. 39% of respondents have turned down a job offer due to a perceived lack of inclusive culture in the workplace. All of this to say, the candidates you are after are after inclusivity.

3. It’s an overall boost to your bottom line.

You’ve probably seen the stats. Companies with inclusive cultures see 2.3 times higher cash flow, are 35% more likely to outperform their competitors and produce 19% more revenue. Promoting inclusivity in your workplace is one way to encourage positive business trends, and to remain competitive in an ever-diversifying market.
